The 24-year-old Swedish YouTube video game commentator Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg has been reported to have made $4 million dollar in the past 12 months. His YouTube channel features Let’s Play videos of action and horror video game genres and has got over 28 million subscribers. Felix films himself playing video games (making funny faces and giving weird reactions) while making outlandish commentary under the alias name PewDiePie.
Since he launched his YouTube channel in April 2009, it became the fastest growing entertainment channel rising from 3.5 million subscribers to 18 million in 2013. As of now, his videos have crossed 4.8 billion views.
On completion of his study from Göteborgs Högre Samskola in 2008, he went to Chalmers University of Technology to pursue a degree in Industrial Economics and Technology Management but in 2011 he decided to drop out the university to seriously focus on his YouTube career.
“It’s certainly exciting to have huge followers and such kind of influence, but at the same time it seems scary for me” Felix Kjellberg said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.In 2013 he won Starcount Social Star Awards and Shorty Awards.
