Micky Jagtiani, the chairman and founder of Dubai based Landmark Group, was born in Kuwait on 15th of August 1952. He completed his schooling in Bombay (now Mumbai) and Brummana High School in Lebanon. After the completion of his higher studies, he went to London accounting school. Later, he dropped his studies and began his career as taxi driver and hotel cleaner. Shortly, he had to return to Gulf and lose his family due to illness within a year. He started retail business Landmark Group with $6000 left by his family in 1973 in Bahrain. Gradually Landmark Group spanned into food, hotels, leisure, own logistics and distribution. Today, it employs 24000 people and has 840 stores in India, Spain, China, Pakistan and Gulf.
Philanthropic work:
He Landmark International Foundation of Empowerment through which he is giving medical facilities more than 100000 people all over the India and helping underprivileged children by proving schooling and training.
Awards and recognition:
At the third Annual Retail Middle East 2007 Awards, Mr Jagtiani was honored with the Retail Personality of the Year.
In 2008, his name has been enlisted in world’s billionaire lists of Forbes Magazine. He is the 16th richest Indian business man.
